“If you never did you should. These things are fun and fun is good”

As we kick off an exciting 2009 we are pleased to announce that our popular Facebook application, Sam’s Fish Bowl, is now officially out of Beta. Version 1.0 went live at 5:30AM PST today and we could not be more pleased with the results.
During our Beta period we added over 2100 users to the application and continue to see almost 98% of those users remain active and faithful to their fish! This growth has happened rapidly and was generated strictly from word of mouth. Thank you users- you are incredible! We simply can not thank everyone enough. Keep those feature requests coming!
For those not familiar with the application it allows you to become the caregiver of a super-unique fish. Your fish is alive and well and lives everyday on Facebook. He will require special care and feeding from both you and your friends, and will certainly become a beloved member of the family. Each time you feed your fish you will earn Super Feeder Points. These points can be shared with your child’s Super Reader Points within Sam’s Interactive Reader. We think you’ll like this casual game and it also helps us spread the word about Storybook Anytime through everyone’s social network on Facebook. Thank you for your support!

After taking a few well deserved weeks off to observe the holidays we are happy to be back in action.
Product Update: Just before the break we were able to release a new version update (1.7) that addressed a few inconsistencies with our transaction system and added some user interface tweaks.
During our break we had time to reflect on our advances in 2008 as well has start our strategic planning for 2009. That said, we would like to give a special thanks to Adobe, specifically the Adobe Air team, who has supported our development efforts and continues to put the word out about Sam’s Interactive Reader and Storybook Anytime. Their efforts in 2008 and plans for 2009 will certainly be an extraordinary benefit for us and we are extremely grateful.
This new year promises to be the best yet for Storybook Anytime and we just wanted to share with everyone a small list of some of the new things you can expect to see as we move through the first quarter of 2009:
- A variety of new stories, activities and content will be added very soon and with ever increasing frequency
- Sam’s Fish Bowl (our Facebook app for parents) will move out of Beta with new customization capabilities. We are also working on implementing the user requested features that we have been receiving.
- New content categories and features will be added to Sam’s Interactive Reader beyond our stories and activities (stay tuned for huge announcements about this specifically in the coming weeks)
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have downloaded and installed our product. Without your support and feedback none of this would be possible. Happy New Year everyone.

After a great fan fare given to our 1.5 release a few weeks ago we noticed some things that were not quite right in daily use. We felt it paramount that we address these issues right away in order to insure the best user experience possible.
Specifically, we discovered some issues relative to the activity library as well as the account and transaction systems. We have corrected these issues in our Version 1.6 release that is now live on all of our download sites.
As usual, to upgrade your existing application, simply open Sam’s Interactive Reader and the update will happen auto-magically. Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

We are very excited to see that the Adobe Air team presented Storybook Anytime during the Adobe MAX conference in Milan, Italy this past week. Robert Christensen presented a session titled “Monetizing Applications with Adobe AIR” in which he examined case studies that describe how developers are attempting to monetize and market AIR applications. The featured case study was Storybook Anytime and our two flagship products Sam’s Interactive Reader and Sam’s Fish Bowl. It included a glimpse into our social and online marketing and techniques used via Facebook (and now Twitter) to generate interest in our product and company.
You can view the full presentation here at the Adobe Air blog.
The Adobe MAX conference continues in Tokyo, Japan after the holidays — January 29 - 30, 2009. Once again, thanks Adobe. You guys rock!
