While you were sleeping… Version 1.6 released

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

After a great fan fare given to our 1.5 release a few weeks ago we noticed some things that were not quite right in daily use. We felt it paramount that we address these issues right away in order to insure the best user experience possible.

Specifically, we discovered some issues relative to the activity library as well as the account and transaction systems. We have corrected these issues in our Version 1.6 release that is now live on all of our download sites.

As usual, to upgrade your existing application, simply open Sam’s Interactive Reader and the update will happen auto-magically. Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

Storybook Anytime presented at the Adobe MAX Conference in Milan

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

We are very excited to see that the Adobe Air team presented Storybook Anytime during the Adobe MAX conference in Milan, Italy this past week. Robert Christensen presented a session titled “Monetizing Applications with Adobe AIR” in which he examined case studies that describe how developers are attempting to monetize and market AIR applications. The featured case study was Storybook Anytime and our two flagship products Sam’s Interactive Reader and Sam’s Fish Bowl. It included a glimpse into our social and online marketing and techniques used via Facebook (and now Twitter) to generate interest in our product and company.

You can view the full presentation here at the Adobe Air blog.

The Adobe MAX conference continues in Tokyo, Japan after the holidays — January 29 - 30, 2009. Once again, thanks Adobe. You guys rock!

Sam’s Interactive Reader Version 1.5 - Now Available!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

We are pleased to announce the release of Sam’s Interactive Reader Version 1.5 today. We have been working hard to create the best customer experience possible and hope you enjoy this new release.

How to Upgrade/Install

If you already have Sam’s Interactive Reader installed, simply start the application and it will find and download the update auto-magically. If you don’t have it installed you can download it from our website right now.

What’s New

In this latest release we have addressed some significant bug fixes and added a few new features as well. Many of the new features are back-end enhancements but some or very noticeable:

  • New nickname selection tool to enhance security and privacy in public facing areas.
  • Super Reader Points now sync when using multiple installations for the same account.
  • Sam’s Interactive Reader Points now sync with Sam’s Fish Bowl Feeder Points (Facebook App)
  • Super Reader Points area has had a make over… check it out.

Most notable of the new features will be the nickname selection tool. Though new users will not notice anything out of the ordinary, this will be a required selection when you upgrade and replace your current system nickname. We would have liked to allowed everyone to keep their self-built nicknames, this method was a clear choice in allowing us to control our growth as we move into the new year.

Most Notable Bug Fixes:

  • Forgotten password sync- Application was sometimes not detecting if a password reset was requested
  • Application crash when entering the Super Reader Points section while not online
  • Improved network detection capabilities to insure a smoother user experience
